Suicide Awareness Training

Oklahoma Virtual Charter Academy is committed to providing district-wide training to all staff which addresses suicide awareness and prevention.

For SY23-24 OVCA is utilizing The Society for the Prevention of Teen Suicide, Inc. (SPTS) training from the Department of Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services.

This is a non-profit community organization founded in 2005 by two fathers who each experienced a devastating loss of a teenage child by suicide.  The organization is dedicated to increasing awareness and reducing the stigma of suicide through specialized training programs and outreach resources that empower teens, parents and educational leaders with the guidance and skills needed to help those at-risk of suicide build a life of resiliency.

Resource and FACT sheets for this training can be viewed in the PDFs below.

In addition, the Student Family Resource Coordinator is available for support of staff and families. More information can be found on the OVCA Crisis Support page.
