Communications

EMAIL

Email is a primary source of contact between staff and the Learning Coach/students; therefore, Learning Coaches and students are encouraged to check their email at least twice a day (morning and evening). Learning Coaches and students are asked to reply to any email received from staff or K12 within 24 business hours. Staff will respond to communications within 24 hours on regular school days. Staff will notify families in advance if they will be out of the office. Families are always welcome to call their Community Family Advisor. If your assigned Community Family Advisor is unable to answer the phone, please leave a voicemail and your call will be returned as soon as possible.

PHONE CALLS

All OVCA staff can be reached by calling 405.259.9748. Press the #key to use the dial by name directory.

Extensions are located in the Staff Directory. Teachers are instructed to allow their voicemail to answer incoming calls if they are teaching class. This allows teachers to keep their full attention on the lesson. This also allows long-distance calls to be charged to OVCA and not to the Learning Coach. The school does not reimburse Learning Coaches for long-distance calls. When leaving a voicemail, please ensure you leave a detailed message explaining the reason for the call and best number for return call. This will assist in promptly getting a response to you.

TEXT MESSAGES

Families may opt in to receive text messages from school staff. A family may opt out by replying STOP to any message. Contact your CFA for assistance with opting in or out of text messaging.

NEWROW/ ZOOM

Connections with families can be made through an online conferencing platform such as Newrow, K12’s virtual classroom platform, or Zoom. Meetings on these platforms allow users to see video of the other party, share desktop content, chat, and talk in real time.

NEWSLETTERS

Bison Blast newsletters are sent each month. These contain important information about upcoming events. Bison Blast newsletters may also feature student achievement and awards.

Additionally, each principal will send a bi-weekly school- focused newsletter, called From the Principal’s Desk. These can be viewed on the school tabs.

This information is from the Board-approved OVCA Handbook for SY 2020-2021.
